This is a problem. The Asian American + Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities have seen a spike in targeted racism and economic suffering, especially since the onset of the pandemic. Hate crimes against Asian communities have increased by 150% in our most populous cities. And in recent weeks, extreme violence has caught up with the slurs, the harassment, the xenophobia. There have been stabbings in CA, NY and now, a mass shooting in GA where eight innocent people were murdered. AAPI communities have been trying to draw our attention to the very real issue for the past year. We didn't give it the focus it deserved.
