Meet @steph_angelis, artist and illustrator based in Los Angeles. With a passion for storytelling, Stephanie’s work focuses on the female experience. What is she most the proud of thus far in her career? “I am proud of myself. I grew up in an environment that didn’t bode well for future success, and had to navigate a lot of my earlier years with no guidance or roadmap. I got to where I am by following my intuition, staying dedicated to my craft and trying to build a life where the work I produce makes myself and others happy.” // Stephanie wears our Recycled Cashmere Wrap Sweater in Charcoal. // Link in bio to read her full story. #cuyanacraftswomen
Meet @beeshapiro, founder of fragrance line @ellisbrooklyn. Before crafting scents, Bee was the beauty columnist at @nytimes nearly twelve years. What inspires her the most? “My mom didn't wear any perfume. For me, the idea of scent comes from playing in the woods as a child in the suburbs of Seattle. Because of that, I'll always be inspired most by natural ingredients.” // Link in bio for Bee’s story. #cuyanacraftswomen
Meet Jennie Lennick, the designer and artist behind @jennylemons. Based in San Francisco, Jennie specializes in embroidery, creating uplifting designs and messages with a needle and thread. When asked what Fewer, better means to her, Jennie shared: “I live a pretty simple life. I am very thoughtful about items I consume and create. Having fewer, better makes day to day decision making a lot easier, which frees up more time to do the things I love, like spending time with my family and doing my crafts.” // @jennylemons wears our Recycled Cashmere Mock Neck Sweater in Black. // link in bio for her full story. #cuyanacraftswomen
Meet Carrie Lau, the ceramicist and artist behind @omceramic. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Carrie is now based in L.A., where she creates full time. “I was introduced to ceramics by a good friend, and it quickly became a meditative hobby and a new outlet for my creative energy... I love the creative process the most. It allows me to connect with myself and share my thoughts with others.” Link in bio for Carrie’s story. #cuyanacraftswomen
Meet @katie.gong, a California-based sculptor best known for her woodwork. When asked what she’s most proud of, Katie shares, “being able to continue to work at the level I am while being a mother. I love being a mother, but it is also super important to me to be able to create and make works of art, both are part of my identity.” Link in bio for @katie.gong’s story.
Meet @happymenocalstudio. A watercolor artist known for her whimsical scenes and custom emblems, Happy has a unique and recognizable style—think dancing florals, unexpected color palettes, and bespoke creations. When asked what she is most proud of in her career, Happy shares that her team of women is her greatest success yet: “I am relentlessly making things, but my real achievement was assembling my team. I could not love them more. Every idea is improved when we execute it together.” // Happy wears our Cotton Cashmere Ribbed Cardigan in Ecru. Link in bio for her story. #cuyanacraftswomen
Meet Abigail Smallwood, co-founder of @myrthceramics. As a small-batch ceramicist, Abigail approaches her work with intention and care: “Fewer, better is also in our ethos. Our ceramic wares are designed for everyday use, yet are intended to last lifetimes. To create enduring products, we have chosen to work exclusively with porcelain. We also keep our line very small, with items that are classic, timeless, or multi-functional.” Link in bio for @myrthceramics’ story. // Abigail wears our Alpaca Off-The-Shoulder sweater in Ecru. #cuyanacraftswomen
This International Women’s Day, we’re honored to share the work and stories of female artists. Craftswomen are at the core of our brand, bringing our products to life with generations of expertise. To celebrate their work, we partnered with eight incredible women to share their journeys and creativity. First up, florist @elle_jaime of @calma_floral. • “When I first got to Miami from NYC, I decided to start to play with flowers to cure boredom and keep myself busy. I posted them on social media and people were responding positively to it. Then I got my first big gig doing flowers for a beauty brand and my business grew from there.” // Elizabeth wears our Silk Tee in White.
